Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Diabetes Exercise and Sports Association

We all "run" on insulin, we can all be "athletes".  In 1985, Paula Harper founded the International Diabetic Athletes Association (now the Diabetes Exercise and Sports Association - DESA) by proclaiming to other road race participants one day, "I run on insulin".  Over the course of the next 25 years, thousands of people with diabetes have joined forces with Paula to share their experiences of having diabetes and being physically active through exercise and sports.

To honor Paula's vision, the Diabetes Exercise and Sports Association is proud to announce the I Run on Insulin CampaignIn an effort to support our mission to enhance the quality of life for people with diabetes through exercise and physical fitness, we have set a goal of raising a minimum of $25,000 by the end of this year and $250,000 by December 31, 2010.

Tell us how YOU run on Insulin

As we celebrate our 25th anniversary throughout 2010, we want to hear how you embody the foundation of our existence.  Tell us how YOU “run on insulin”.

Send us your story, 250 or less, and a photo that we can post on the web site.  We want to share as many “how I run on insulin” stories as possible.

Remember, we all “run” on insulin.  You might pump it, inject it, take a pill each day or simply make your own that works just fine.  Regardless, your body “runs” on insulin.

Send your story to desa@diabetes-exercise.org
